Renew your Garage

Let’s face it, garages are the least loved corners of the house but they do most of the heavy lifting, enduring all types of harsh weather. You might contemplating between repair vs  replacement than the cost of repainting. Sprucing up your garage by adding some color to the concrete and painting the door shouldn’t break the bank.

Paint Garage Doors

Besides the obvious aesthetic value, repainting the doors also ensures that moisture can’t penetrate the front of the door and into the wood. Untreated wood will eventually become loose and break down, and will slowly wear away. After sanding the wood, you will need to apply a primer and then paint.  If the garage door is steel or aluminum you’ll want to use high-quality latex exterior house paint.

Garage flooring paint

1-Part epoxy paint is the best choice due to the properties of epoxy itself. When mixed in with the paint, it will provide for a paint that is more resistant to mold and mildew, chemicals, gasoline stains, oil, scuff marks, and chipping. It also tends to bond to the concrete better than latex paint. The lengths a professional will go to in prepping your concrete floors before applying any floor coating is something that you simply can’’t achieve with a DIY epoxy paint kit. A professional garage floor coating has all three elements to be long lasting: superior product, properly surface preparation and a scratch-resistant clear coating. An oil-based exterior paint is a good choice for going over an oil-based primer, but a 100 percent acrylic exterior paint can also be suitable.

Garage Walls

Garage walls are subjected to such torture that you would never see on your living room walls.  If you need more durability of the paint in your garage walls you need a tougher grade of paint in the garage. Garage walls might be finished with masonry, wood or vinyl paneling, or drywall. The wall covering material also affects your choice of paint but an exterior alkyd enamel may be a good choice for the garage walls thanks to its durability.
